Rudder fit.
All of the 5/8 X 3/16 spar
stock has been cut to length and the ends have been shaped as shown on
the plans. This photo shows
the upper spar reinforcemnents
being glued to the upper spars. Take care to align the
inner ends of these components properly.
This photo shows the outer ends of
the outer wing panel lower spars. The slice in the ends is to allow
them to conform to the curve of the balsa end spar parts.
Balsa blocks support the lower spar at the proper height. The blocks are .402 inches high, as shown on the lower right corner of sheet one of the plans. The five center
ribs are not installed
until the center wing sections are joined. 1/16 soft balsa was
glued to 3/8 stock to make the blocks, followed by sanding to the
proper dimension.
The dihedral jig is used
to align the inner end of the spars. The other end of the spars
should rest against a right angle square if the spars are properly
dimensioned.
