Fin
and rudder. I thought of all kinds of ways to jig and shim this
part to keep it straight while building it but
in the end it was just
built "in the air" and came out fine. Took about 5 minutes to do
once the gluing started.
1/32 balsa was added to the sides of the fin and rudder spars to match the ribs.
Rudder and fin. The upper hinge is temporarily installed, it's a narrow piece of CA hinge.
For the center
hinge on the elevator Kevlar string was wrapped around a few times and
CA'd on the front side only. Crude, light, works great.
Done that way on both sides.
A
carbon fiber rod was inserted into the bottom of the rudder spar.
As you see in continues on down through the stabilizer to a point
even with
the side stringer on the fuselage. The control horn was not glued on until after the tail was covered and permanently attached to the fuselage.
