High Quality Plan Sets for Radio Control Aircraft
74 inch San Josè
A 1948 design by Antonio Arria

The fin fits in between the two center SR1 ribs so a section of 3/16 balsa was made up to set the spacing accurately and to insure alignment
was straight over the plan centerline.  The slots on the aft spar had been precut before assembly by reference to the plan.

I did the same thing for the short aft rib sections but it isn't necessary.

Checking the fit of the fin components after the top sheeting is applied.  A slot must be cut for the fin spar
in the bottom sheeting as it extends down through the fuselage to the sub fin.

The completed and sanded horizontal tail and elevators.

Completed fin assembly.  The fin spar is a lamination of spruce and balsa here, spruce or basswood is called out on the plan.
