Chester Chaplaskie's Thunder Bird 45
Aluminum
tube tip bow and leading edge support stringer installed. Rough
up the aluminum tubing with 80 grit sandpaper to facilitate CA and
covering adhesion.
Jigging up the wing on the leading edge. Use the drawing on the plan of the wing front view to align
the base of the clamps, the red centerline and tip detail is repeated out at the right tip for reference.
This is the firm that sells these triangles, they are also made in 12 inch sizes.

The bases are drilled so T-pins can hold them in place.
Gluing in the center section doublers which are internal to the spar caps.
Next
the spar center section caps will be installed. Use 30 minute
epoxy for all center section assembly so you can get precise alignment.
All
the nose blocks have been installed and sanded. For the landing gear installation, using a dremel
tool the appropriate areas were routed out. Cutting
in to the lower longeron
for the rear leg is OK because the inner ply doubler reinforces the
area. The removed section of center stringer will be replaced
later.
