The
Convair RB-36H
The wing root assembly was
fitted in from one side. This is possible because the assembled
fuselage can still be flexed enough with the removed wing root
area and the open bomb
bay on the bottom. Earlier some material was removed from the
fuselage where it mates to the bottom of the wing to allow the wing
to set lower. A few
shims were set there to keep proper alignment. Aftre tack glueing
with super glue and a final check of alignment with the outer wing
panels, initial glueing was done with 5 minute epoxy and microballoons.
