Robbie
Risner's F-86E
This
door was used as the first step for getting into the cockpit and is
often seen open on F-86A's and E's. I cut it free from the
fuselage with multiple
passes
of a new #11 exacto blade, boxed in the hole in the fuselage and
added rib detail to the door. A master for an ammunition tub was made from balsa
and plasticard and resin copies were made from the mold made around the
master. This door is not often seen open on airplanes with the 6-3 wing mod
because
the wing conflicted with the door necessitating a removeable fillet
which had to be unbolted first from the wing before opening the door.
