A British Maryland spotted the Bismark leaving its anchorage in Norway. The French called it the Glenn, Martin's founder's first name, and they were flown in the battle of France, later by
both Free and Vichy French forces. It was designed in 1937, had four wing mounted Browning .303 machine guns and one in the turret. French 167's had Wright R-1820's,
those used by the British had Pratt and Whitner R-1830's. Around 400 were built. Some were still in use in 1945.
