Landing
gear assembly. The top of the strut has a taper where it fits
into the hole in the wing and careful enlarging of the hole was
necessary to get both legs inserted to the same depth.
There are five doors on each gear leg and the scissors are also a
separate part. In addition there are two resin gear segments at
the top of the struts, these gears rotate
the landing gear 90 degrees as it retracts. The P-40 had a much
simplified door arrangement and it must have been a maintenace headache
to maintain all those doors.
