Milliput was used to fill the
wing root gaps. They weren't terrible but they were there.
The tape keeps extra filler from adhering and reduces damage
to detail from the
sanding
process. The gun inserts don't fit very well and were hard to position
to get the proper horizontal level with the horizon alignment.
If I build
another of
these I think I'll just fill these spots with scrap plastic, sand them
to shape, and then drill the holes for the guns. Less work.
Another trouble spot
is where the
antennas fit on the spine of the fuselage. That is also
filled with Milliput and will be sanded smooth, then I will fit the
antennas as a last item after
all else is
done. I see no way to fill and sand the block that the
antennas are attached to sufficient to get a nice metal finish there.
