Hi all,

The Spitfire safely made it across the Canadian border and is now in my sweaty little hands.  I had just a very quick look at it when it arrived but looks like all is

intact except for one of the flaps which I think someone mentioned earlier?  I’ll be taking a closer look tonight and will hopefully have some updates soon.

My part of the Secret GB is complete and I should have it in the mail to Mike in the next day or two.  Here are some pics of what I've been up to.

First the obligatory mug shot:

Thankfully, the poison ivy stopped oozing puss in time for me to work on this.  (what???  Too much info?)

(Webmaster's note:  Oooooh Ggrrossss!)

Okay, hope you all had a good second taste of your breakfast.  Now on to the important stuff.

The kit as it arrived on my doorstep.

The parts that concern my part of the build.

My main issue after cleaning and painting the parts was that the dry fit testing revealed that the wonderful engine wiring done previously
was getting in the way of the exhaust manifold (part Q).  I ended up cutting and lowering the wiring where it entered the engine block and this
seems to have done the trick.  Here is a before and after shot of the wiring.  Hard to see how much I lowered it in these photos but you get the idea.

And with the exhaust manifold part attached.
You can still see the wiring, thankfully.

A couple of pics with the exhaust pipes attached and the upper cowling hood on.

I’ve decided not to attach the engine mount to the airframe at this point as I think that it would be better to test the lower engine cover first before setting it firmly in place.  I am having some trouble with the side panels, they don’t seem to want to stay attached.  I guess the magnets are not coming in contact with the plates.  I’m hoping that when Mike attaches the lower part that things will fall into place.

Oh ya, I ended up using the aluminum paint on the oil tank.  Turned out okay I think.

It’s been a pleasure gentlemen.  Looking forward to the next installment.
