1. Isolating somebody, making it difficult for family/friend contact
2. Use of intimidation tactics like preventing someone from leaving the room
3. Use of uninvited touching or of coercion to obtain sex
4. Use of harsh personal criticism, including name-calling and put-downs
5. Attempts to publicly embarrass or humiliate
6. Threatening to withhold financial support/transportation in order to control
7. Sabotaging someone’s attempts to work outside the home
8. Twisting words to mean something not intended
9. Manipulating children to “see things my way”
10. Claiming to be absolute authority in the home, refusing to give anyone any say
