About Crisis Resources

The Department provides referrals to many community organizations that offer legal, health and employment services, as well as low or reduced cost meals, shelter and related services to individuals or families in times of need. See below for more information, including public locations for acquiring crisis resources.

 

Shelters      

Wayfarer Center 
Administrative Office:  1017 Main Street  (530) 661-1218
No overnight shelter during summer.
Cold weather shelter available November –March. 
Open to men, women and children.
Check in by 6:00 p.m. with Site Manager
 

Davis Community Meals

1111 H Street, Davis (530) 753-9204
Shelter:  Show up by 6:00 p.m., Monday-Sunday
7 days emergency bed available initially.  With opening can move to transitional housing(up to 18 months).
Must test alcohol and drug free.

 

STEAC (Short Term Emergency Aid Committee)

St. John’s Shelter for Women & Children

No Men.  Boys up to age 14 accepted.
Initial 14 day stay.  Opportunity available for up to 60 day stay.
 

Salvation Army Social Services Center

Men and women: Show up at 1 p.m. (Monday-Friday) at above address to get on waiting list for Shelter.
 

South Area Emergency Housing

Call to be screened over the phone; get placed on waiting list for 2-month program.  Program is only for families with children under the age of 18 (unless in high school or college).

Women’s Refuge 30-day Program for single women also available.
